xfce4-panel

For a more full fledged (but still relatively light) panel, xfce4-panel is a good alternative. xfce4-panel supports Gnome applets, and will thus allow for using the Gnome NetworkManager applet nm-applet. xfce4-panel has a pager, tray, clock in addition to a wide variety of other panel plugins.

NetWMPager

NetWMPager is a pure and simple, fully EWMH compliant pager. The official project page has been unavailable for some time; if your distro does not provide a precompiled package, Gentoo repositories is an easy way to obtain the source - try googling for 'gentoo distfiles'.

This is going to be a project for different kinds of dynamic menus. So far there is a pekwm_ls_menu and pekwm_gtk_menu which creates a menu from a directory structure and changes GTK+ theme.
