Install xfce4-panel, Run it,

Right click on it and select "add applets" (or something like that) then you have a window to choose applets. Close it and then you can't do any keybinds... The only way is opening a menu and then it works again.

More focus issues, I think most of these "lost focus when close X" should be consolidated into one task.
